Our paradise on the hill
Situated in the middle of the nature reserve at the foot of Monte Aneo, in the commune of Montecatini Val di Cecina, only five kilometres from the small town of Ponteginori, lies our old country estate, the Podere Oliveto. Its history goes way back to the 16th century, when numerous similar estates throughout Tuscany provided for the self-sufficiency of their inhabitants.
Its location is typical for the area, on a small hill, and yet it is unique with its view into the vastness of the countryside to the surrounding villages and the Etruscan city of Volterra, only 20 km away.
A country estate in beautiful surroundings
Two kilometres from the nearest neighbour and accessible only by an unpaved private road, the estate is surrounded by woods, fields and streams. On its southern side, the nature reserve of Monte Aneo stretches for kilometres, up to the medieval town of Querceto with its beautiful castle. Here, hiking enthusiasts will find wonderful paths through untouched nature and, time and again, spectacular views of the hilly countryside and the sea to the west.
Only a 20-minute drive takes you to the seaside holiday area in Marina di Bibbona or to the beaches of the provincial capital Cecina. From here it is not far to Pisa, Siena or Florence.
